Is there a Google penalty for promoting your websites on Twitter or Social Media Sites?

Traffic on these websites have dropped off immediately after I started promoting them on Twitter. Bestnewarticles.com has some original content on the ‘exclusive articles’ page and free-psychic-help.com has all original content. Both sites have been online for almost a year. Thanks.
